...when I happened across "New Smoke-Based Photographs by Ken Hermann Capture Colorful Bursts Suspended Within an Industrial Corridor" in my trusty ol' NewsBlur, I couldn't actually envision what it was trying to describe. Turns out it was just about as literal a description of Ken Hermann's "Smoke" project as one could imagine.

When I heard this—when I REALLY heard it for the first time—my mind was blown, at least a little. ...the symphony's final movement is now transformed into a musical account of Death's Defeat. It's the "Dies Irae" but in a major (and spectacularly triumphant) key!

Let's leave that trolling for a later date, because what really struck (and held) my fancy was the fact that I hit this headline only a few minutes later: "Pixar Created An Experimental Shorts Division, First Film Is SMASH AND GRAB."
